Goodyear was quick to offer a rebuttal to cup driver Tony Stewart’s complaints, what do you think about the entire Goodyear-NASCAR relationship?

Of course Goodyear isn’t happy with Stewart’s comments, but the drivers are the ones doing almost 200 mph so of course they want something which will hold up and be safe.

There were only 13 cars on the lead lap. We have not had any side be side racing yet this year. I am looking forward to side by side racing; bring on the IRL on their Firestone Firehawks.

It seems Goodyear forgot to mention is that they also tried to make Goodyear the spec tire for CART, IRL and F1 but were turned down.

I thought it was great to actually see these guys have to drive like the 200 MPH cars of 30 years ago; sawing the wheel back and forth, hanging it out and actually having to work at it. Everyone had the same tires and now thanks to the car of whocares the same non-handling race cars. The guys who did the best were the best, stop whining!

I agree with glendalestew. Let’s have some side by side racing. Atlanta is usually side by side racing all day and it had to have been one of the more boring races all year.

Goodyear talks, the never have “walked” and ask Union Safety Directors, who drive in all climates and they’ll gladly tell you flat-out Goodyear sucks the big one; the give the Pacific Northwest a winter tire they had used in Salt Lake City (can you connect the dots, here?) Tony, in this case ain’t whinin’and he hit-the-nail-on-the-head. The last time Goodyear had any sign of a good tire was back in the day with that Double Eagle, which they later phased out because it was too good. Go figure becaue Goodyear won’t!

Goodyear makes a good product. Period. tonie is a wussie, I am one of the tried & true ‘dega fans; recall his most obnoxious coment. The two years #20 won the championship was when goodyear was at their softest. Got skills for sure the 24hrs @ daytona when he was going around without a rear right tire was impressive. Sorry there are 42 others out there. And oh by the way, could you get out a Physics book and show me how a car tends to go down a banked track in the middle of a turn or could this just be another ‘anybodies fault but mine copout’. The morning dew may kiss the grass, but toeknee can kiss…

Carefully consider the explanation from the geniuses at Goodyear: “We supplied the same tires for both the NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races, and received zero complaints about our tires after the Nationwide race on Saturday.”
That’s precisely the problem. Each series now has a unique car which requires a unique tire. Every fan in the stands knows that. But instead of developing two designs, Goodyear came up with a one-size-fits none solution. The race was boring for the fans and way too exciting for the drivers. It’s time for NASCAR to find another tire supplier.

Tony was right and I applaud the fact he had the guts to get up and say something about it. All Dale Jr. did was dance around the fact he didn’t like the tire, like some of the other drivers did. Forget this being nice and polite about! It has never worked before, so why start now.
